The
Cart Shed

Bar & Dining

At The Cart Shed, our onsite restaurant, the food is rooted in West Dorset and cooked with a light hand. We grow and harvest a small amount from our own land, but we leave most of the farming to the people who do it best  and we choose suppliers we genuinely trust. Our menus move with the seasons, shaped by what’s at its best right now, and built around clean flavours, confident technique, and plates that never feel fussy. It’s proper food, served with warm, relaxed hospitality — the kind of place you can settle into, whether you’re here for breakfast, a lazy lunch, or a long dinner.

Breakfast at Outbuildings celebrates Dorset produce. Fresh eggs from Oldways Farm’s pasture raised hens. Bacon sourced just down the road. Mushrooms grown locally by Grown Up Mushrooms. Simple ingredients, carefully chosen, to start the day well.

Lunch is relaxed and unhurried. Take a seat, pause for a while, and enjoy a coffee or cocktail. Choose a small bite from our Country Comforts and nibbles menu while you settle in and watch the afternoon drift by.

Each evening, The Cart Shed serves our Just Down The Road menu ethos. The dishes change with the seasons and follow what grows in our gardens and what our local suppliers bring in. Seating is limited, so we recommend booking in advance. If you are not staying overnight, reserving a table is essential as we cannot accomodate walk-ins so book now through our website.!

Our Menus

Chef's Selection

A handful of dishes at each course, built around what's local, what's in season, and what he thinks is worth cooking that week. Lyme Bay scallops. Balson's sirloin. Whatever's come in from down the road. You choose what appeals from his selection. He's already done the hard part.

It starts, as all good evenings should, with a glass of Furleigh Estate Classic Cuvée.

Four courses, your choices, local ingredients. A menu that changes constantly and never quite repeats itself, because what's growing and what's arrived that week always has the final say.

4 courses  |  £60 per person  |  Every evening  |  Booking essential
